DIY Special JAPAN

Saturday is shopping day (yes, I know it’s not the best day for it, and I need to improve my organization), and as I was passing by the display of magazines out of curiosity, because at the end of the month the ones I like on well-being and vegetarian cooking hadn’t come out yet, my eye was drawn to this issue of “J’aime créer”, whose theme checked all the boxes:

  • hand-made
  • Japan

A quick perusal of the contents, with objects and techniques specific to Japanese culture, good-luck charms deeply rooted in this Japanese culture that I particularly love, rituals, recipes, sewing (this is less my cup of tea, but certain motifs immediately inspire me)… It’s decided, even if it’s not cheap, it’s adopted.

I leafed through it a second time in the evening, once the “little girl” had gone to bed, and I’m thinking that I’ve really done well, this issue mixing stories and explanations of certain rituals and cultural aspects of Japan, with DIY methods and typical recipes. So today, Sunday, we’re planning to go back to picking blackberries on the path of a recent walk, and after that we can do a first little activity that Candice will choose as she feels like it. I hope she’ll choose the papier-mâché Daruma, which I really like… 😛
