This Natsume in Keyaki wood, renowned for its solidity and warm hues, stands out for its natural beauty and decorative richness. Its lacquered surface highlights traditional Japanese hand-painted motifs: red and black fans, bamboo leaves and stylized birds. These refined illustrations are sublimated by touches of gold and silver color, applied using the “Fukiwu Rushi” (拭漆) technique. This artisanal method involves applying multiple layers of lacquer, then gently wiping them away to reveal the wood’s natural grain while adding luminous depth and silky texture.
